Baker Brooks, President - Operations
Baker Brooks has grown in his professional career path through striving to understand the details of his environment on the lowest level. After graduating high school in Baton Rouge Louisiana, he elected to join the Marine Corps Reserve while pursuing his degree in construction management at LSU. While in the Marine Corps, Baker found success in grinding through the minutia of his military occupation, being infantry. In doing so, Baker developed a deep understanding of his war fighting craft while making his unit’s processes more efficient and it’s Marines better prepared for war. Baker deployed to Iraq, in support of Iraqi Freedom, in 2003 and again in 2007 where he led Marines into harm’s way, earning a combat action ribbon and a Navy Commendation Medal. Subsequently Baker was selected as the 2006 Marine Corps Reserve Marine of the Year.
As a construction professional, Baker has a displayed a need to better understand the nuances of the work that he is managing. To generate a premium product, Baker drove himself to understand trade procedures and procedure variants to better anticipate and eliminate friction points. This hunger for process and trade knowledge has driven Baker to take on additional roles outside of his normal “day job”. It has placed him on 3 committee seats for the American Concrete Institute; and it has given him valuable insight into professional inefficiencies which he hopes to correct via innovative process corrections. Baker has, and will strive towards success by understanding and doing the small things – the things that will make him excel over his competition.
- Baker, being an LSU Graduate with a BS in Construction Management is engaged with LSU on the development of a concrete technology that has potential global implications. Baker is currently an ACI, American Concrete Institute, committee member that is sitting on the following committees: 224 Cracking, 305 Hot Weather Concreting, and 360 Slab on grade design.
- Baker is also a founding member of a construction software development company that aims to integrate Architects, Owners and Contractors to resolve difficult project points.
- And beyond the software development, Baker is the lead developer and founder of the Idea Laboratory. The Idea Laboratory is an invention think tank based in Baton Rouge La. Many items from the idea Laboratory are set for patent submission.
